New Technology Stack – UX-led Development
Objective
Pronto Software aimed to modernise its ERP platform by developing a proof of concept for a new technology stack. The objective was to evolve Pronto Xi into a cloud-based, scalable solution while integrating modern UX practices into a highly engineering-driven company.
Solution
The design-led development approach was central to this transformation, adopting UX methodologies inspired by SAP and IBM standards. The challenge was twofold: align cutting-edge UX practices with an engineering-focused environment and ensure a user-centric approach to product evolution.
We started with a 360-degree competitor and market analysis to identify trends and potential gaps in the ERP market. We then created a user experience solution that emphasised engineers-first functionality and addressed the need for a UI builder to empower new customer interactions with the product.
Key features included
- The creation of a new navigation and search system, aligned with a microservices architecture.
- Designing major page floorplans to ensure consistency across the product.
- Building custom components and maintaining design documentation through standardisation.
- Methods such as shadowing, interviews and use case validation were utilised to build an MVP.
Challenges & Solutions
Our approach had to navigate the complex transition to a cloud-native platform while ensuring that UX remained a central focus. We established a design studio focused on compliance, success metrics, and feedback. The result was a comprehensive process that supported each project phase, from exploration to delivery.
Outcome
The New Technology Stack provided a modern, cloud-based foundation for Pronto Xi, leveraging the scalability, maintainability, and resilience required for modern ERP systems. The project set the stage for continuous growth and success, aligning Pronto Xi with evolving market expectations and maintaining its eXtensible Infrastructure (Xi) vision.
