Pronto Software is
a steadily growing software company specialising in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
solutions. With an eye toward innovation and scalability, Pronto Software has built a
reputation for providing reliable, user-centric solutions that meet the needs of modern
businesses. The company’s flagship product, Pronto Xi, is a powerful ERP platform that
caters to a wide range of industries with customisable features and modules.
Pronto Design System
Pronto Software required a robust design system to support the release of Pronto Xi
Version 770. The system needed to meet high accessibility standards, align with customer
preferences, and support a seamless user experience across all ERP modules.
Design system structure
Statement
Consolidated design methods and practices were the key driver behind the successful
creation and implementation of the Pronto Design System. Working closely with internal
teams, we developed a design system empowered with a floorplan architecture for
datagrids and object views. This ensured consistency in user interaction across the ERP
system. Additionally, the design system was optimised for both light and dark mode,
supporting multiple themes based on customer preferences.
Key features included
Consistent support for CRUD operations across all modules, despite the challenges of
a monolithic architecture.
The creation of a comprehensive UI kit and design documentation for Cognos
dashboards.
Enhanced datagrid screens, addressing a core usability component within the system.
A desktop-first approach that could be applied to mobile apps and POS systems as
collateral.
Challenges & Solutions
Resource constraints required us to adopt cost-effective solutions and creative
workarounds. Despite limitations, we delivered a cohesive design system that supported
the entire ERP module suite. Following the design delivery, we implemented an ongoing
framework using agile methods, led by a scrum master, to support UX operations. This
ensured design maintenance and continuous improvement based on customer feedback, bugs,
and usability testing.
Outcome
The design system was successfully implemented and used across Pronto Software’s core
product, as well as extended to collateral, such as the mobile app and POS system. The
system continues to be maintained through a two-week sprint cycle focused on customer
validation and feedback.
